VP FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

Our client, a large multi-state logistics company in the Inland Empire is in need of a
VP, Finance & Accounting
Primary Objectives:
Responsible for:
Maintaining the integrity of the Company’s accounting system, internal controls,
Accurate financial reporting and underlying accounting records for the Company,
Financial forecasting and budgeting,
Financial analyses of results and ROI on proposed investments,
Managing Treasury function,
Coordinates the annual audit and insurance renewals,
Develops and maintains a relationship with banks, insurance brokers, legal counsel, 401K service providers, benefits provider, and payroll service provider.
Principal Duties and End Results
Maintain the general ledger and accounting records PLG and manage the closing process. Ensure accounting records are accurate and updated timely.
Prepare and issue financial statements and ancillary reports in accordance with approved Finance calendar.
Lead monthly financial review meetings with Operations management and Regional Finance Managers and issue MD&A of results to senior management and shareholders.
Collaborate with Regional Finance Managers to resolve any accounting issues resulting from operations.
Oversee and issue 13-week Cash Flow Forecasts.
Prepare ROI analyses on proposed investment of Company capital.
Develop and maintain solid accounting policies.
Ensure a strong system of internal controls exists and is monitored.
Coordinate the annual audit, including preparation of external financial statements and footnote disclosures.
Coordinate the preparation of the Federal and state tax returns. Ensures state and local tax compliance.
Manage daily cash flow and availability reporting including initiating borrowings and repayments under the revolving credit facility, opening and closing new bank accounts, etc.
Prepare and manage monthly and quarterly loan compliance certificates, including monthly borrowing base, quarterly covenant calculations, etc.
Oversee monthly intercompany billings, allocations, and the JE’s and maintain certain G/L accounts for assigned divisions, as needed.
Work with property & casualty insurance brokers to facilitate the annual insurance renewals, including development of exposure data, evaluation of proposed insurance providers/policies, etc.
Calculate workers’ compensation loss reserves and accrual adequacy. Coordinate information and loss reporting, as necessary,
Coordinate annual insurance premium audits and prepare insurance allocations to the subsidiaries.
Participate in the annual health and welfare benefits selection and renewal process and maintain a relationship with the company’s benefits service provider, including filing of annual Form 5500’s.
Work with the Company’s 401K service provider to coordinate the annual discrimination testing, the annual 401K audit, filing of the annual Form 5500, etc.
File state annual reports, fictitious name filings, etc.
Manage the accounts payable function.
Manage the credit function. Collection responsibility is not within scope of this position.
Requirements:
Requires a four-year degree in Accounting, business or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
A minimum of five years of controller experience (in logistics or business services sector preferred but not necessary).
A thorough knowledge of financial performance drivers, accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of accounting, tax, treasury, cash flow, and internal controls.

Experience in apparel or retail warehousing and/or with a 3PL a plus.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong PC skills including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel required and proficiency in the rest of the Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, and Powerpoint) helpful.
